Ways 02:23
Less is than isn’t Less does than doesn’t Less late than recent Less easy than does it We have our way More likely than liked More rails than spikes More alive than ghost More fortunate than most I have my way Have millions need more Have peace need war Have nothing but hurts Haven’t seen the worst Have it their way Want this and get that Want thin and get fat Want white and get black Want future and look back We have our way

She said she came Once upon a time Again I told her I don’t Mind at all and then We rained and shined And loved and hid And that’s when she said You’re beautiful right until you die And then you’re like a rose up in the sky We came and went and whence it came to them They blossomed and bloomed And crazy growth had stemmed We loved them and they loved us too they said Even when it was time to go to bed Now they say You’re beautiful right until you die And then you’re like a rose up in the sky Your Older now and getting wiser than we were All the world is lapping right At your shore The love you give gives and you’ll give some more Start the the round again you’ll be back before you’ll say You’re beautiful right until you die And then you’re like a rose up in the sky

Sea Level 03:15
Like the toirtoise and the hare Like the axe to the grindstone You will go on in life Thinking you're alone The moral of this story is amoral And you're part of it just like me The conflict comes when you take the high ground While still level with the sea Like visionary men who Have no vision for the women around them Similar to the bankers who make the bills You think you can get off Looking good and feeling fine Without any noticeable skills Like the man who likes men and won’t admit it to anyone Like the taboo culture that bites the hand that feeds When in doubt be sure and if you're positive second guess But don’t you dare blame me We’re all one and only Everyone is special Said every atom ever No matter the gathering Somewhere along the line We forgot our brothers and sisters But you can’t do it alone No matter who’s blathering Like the toirtoise and the hare Like the axe to the grindstone You will go on in life Thinking you're alone The moral of this story is amoral And youre part of it just like me The conflict comes when you take the high ground While still level with the sea

Road Dog 02:52
Puked in more motels Than I remember Next day it was Hair of the dog Feels like a truck Ran me over And My head had A run in with a log I still travel the range roads And highways For what little I can make At the end of the day It’s not what but Who you do That may decide your fate Weathered the weather Now let’s get together Party all night and all the next day Whether we weather this time together Tomorrow we might be ok Slept in a hallway Crawled into bed Never understood what happened Until the thought lit in my brain That the world was blackened by a bottle of grains Never felt I’d make it This far But here I am plain as Day When you tell me you wish you Could live my life I only have this to say I still travel the range roads And highways For what little I can make At the end of the day It’s not who but What you do That may decide your fate

There was a time when all was peaceful There was a time when nothing went wrong That time is long past now we’re beyond getting along So Sure Of Things We’re so sure of things What tomorrow brings We're so sure of things When is the time that we all get better When will be the time when everyone is strong How can a person lend a hand when they can’t help themselves, broken and wrong So Sure Of Things We’re so sure of things What tomorrow brings We're so sure of things Let’s make room for all the people Got to make sure nobody is gone Here in this society leave no one Hanging on You get online and tap the keys Won’t make eye contact in the street King of your own domain So long as the wildlife is tame Punching above your weight The ultimate way to debate So Sure Of Things We’re so sure of things What tomorrow brings We're so sure of things

Long Shadow 04:27
Back in January In a land full of snow You took a look behind you To your long shadow Time marches on Seasons come and they go You see that people think That they cast a long shadow Permanence is esteemed We think that our effect is immense People say we’re everything But that everything lacks substance You knew it as a child Be often forget what we know That behind every laughing his Is you chasing your long shadow Has beens ain’t never been That won’t set the hive mind right When chasin’ shadows Realize you’re running after the absence of light Back in January In a land full of snow I took a look behind me To my long shadow

Taj Mahal 03:14
Taj Mahal hits the ground Taj Mahal looks around Taj Mahal’s grandeur’s due Taj Mahal remade the blues Looking east west north south and in between He reinvented a style For as long as the eye can see He stretched a country mile Nowadays people speak the greats But rarely his name comes up Yet he reimagined the way music sounds Only that’s not enough Taj Mahal hits the ground Taj Mahal looks around Taj Mahal’s grandeur’s due Taj Mahal remade the blues Planting seeds in a garden all of his own The master of two disciplines Would he have harvested the crop he’d sown If he’d stayed the course, his way straight and thin A farmer who’s crop turned to the muse A musician who grew his craft into art Take a giant step to reinvent the blues Taj Mahal wrote that part. Taj Mahal hits the ground Taj Mahal looks around Taj Mahal’s grandeur’s due Taj Mahal remade the blues

What we call timeless is still Of its time But never mind Never you mind What they name borders Are imaginary walls But that’s not all No that’s not all What we look like outside Is often a lie But never mind Never you mind Some are so important They gotta take the call But that’s not all No that’s not all A lot of people’s politics Turn on a dime But never mind Never you mind If you’re In trouble again You better call Saul And that is all Yes that is all

Future Sound 02:53
Your confidence grows Then recedes Is this what I’m supposed to be doing? Is this what that needs? Like a lover spurned You recoil Like you’ve never been burned As if you’ve never toiled Looking back You lose yourself Maybe you think you’re found Look away from the past Hear the future sound We learn things from history Except how to ignore it In times of need And times before it Current times bring present problems You have to escape it If you’re gonna solve them Looking back You lose yourself Maybe you think you’re found Look away from the past Hear the future sound My joy seems permanent It passes like a spirit When will it come back to me? When I’m nowhere near it I’m at my best when I forget myself Now I’ve only got to claim it I always have this wealth Looking back You lose yourself Maybe you think you’re found Look away from the past Hear the future sound Look away from the past Hear the future sound

I go down the road again A one with obvious signposts Straight to oblivion Stay true and real it was said But if you read all the posts You know the meaning is dead I followed him there to his dark place It lead away from all the light How did I ever think that This was gonna turn out alright? She tried to save me Advocated for my sorry ass Painted her in a corner pristine Stay the course until you’re through it was said But the first past the post May have been the loser instead I followed her there to her field of daisies Which led towards the sun Why did I ever think We never should have begun? Stay the course until you’re through it was said But the first past the post May have been the loser instead

Buckets 02:28
Used to be a time when All was groovy Back in those days You could feel things changing Another era passed It was all about me again So boring and blasé It took all the cocaine Seems it’s going to rain buckets Of bloodshed and blame Before we can have peace Reigning over us again Corporate became personal Politics became dumb You only watch the satellite To become numb The kids, they hated it But man they tried To make something better But ate a shotgun and died Seems it’s going to rain buckets Of bloodshed and blame Before we can have peace Reigning over us again Machines got cleverer Smarter than us Tied us down to The old interbus Hand held technology Looked good for a while All the info on earth And still we’re so vile Thoughts the size of a postage stamp Take a long time to amount to anything The canary tweets, a black mirror reflects That everything is gonna be alright. Seems it’s going to rain buckets Of bloodshed and blame Before we can have peace Reigning over us again Seems it’s going to rain buckets Of bloodshed and blame Before we can have peace Reigning over us again

Rend & Mend 04:21
Down again To The temple Of despair I have the reminiscence The scent of your hair We walk the path Greater than our parts No god can tell me How great thou art Rend the fabric of society Mend what once was you and me Up and then Countries armed to the teeth But No one wants A nuclear beef We see too many Suns rising in the east What mattered before Matters now not in the least Rend the fabric of society Mend what once was you and me A side step away from The issues at hand Don’t get in the way of My good time If I thought it was important Then it would be All the things that exist They exist for me Rend the fabric of society Mend what once was you and me Rend the fabric of society Mend what once was you and me Rend & mend & Rend & mend & Rend & mend & Rend & mend &

North of 60 02:07
Spent a lot of time in Utah and some in Tennessee Had a girl down there Who drank Dickle's She was awfully fond of me Drove up north to Canada It grew cold and dark I felt like I was Noah just before he built the ark In all this time my Memphis girl could not believe her luck she was naked up in Canada and nobody gave a fuck It said North of 60 More the 60 miles ago White fish swim in a lake As big as the ocean We reveled and shivered in all the night long day She yelled “I love Canada” It don’t feel the same way Well night gave way to daytime It lasted a couple months She began to see her life here Even if it was just once The stakes that she’d been driving Through my heart had taken hold When dying became livin' This story had to be told In all this time my Memphis girl could not believe her luck she was naked up in Canada and nobody gave a fuck Oh the beautiful True North strong and free We stand on guard for thee It said North of 60 More the 60 miles ago White fish swim in a lake As deep as the ocean We reveled and shivered in all the night long day She yelled “I love Canada” It don’t feel the same way It said North of 60 More the 60 miles ago White fish swim in a lake As deep as the ocean We reveled and shivered in all the night long day She yelled “I love Canada” It don’t feel the same way

Fates 02:50
Sometimes The fates collide Other times The fates coincide Love will find a way They always said Whether or not love does You know we find our way to it The sun smiles Down on us You better take in that grin When the sun goes down A light still burns within Sometimes The fates collide Other times The fates coincide

about

Review from master musician, Brett Miles:

This is my review of Thom as Fred out today:

Thom as Fred is a tour de force from one of the greatest musicians I know who happens to be my bass player and great friend and brother. Not only are the vocals sublime and the dobro playing original and soothing with incredible flute playing by master Kirsten Elliott I can not say enough about Mr. Golub’s incredible dobro playing. The entire concept and production are totally wonderful. For me the ultimate special magic is twofold, Mr Golub’s poetry in his lyrics and his super cool and original blue-grassy-folk compositions.
It is an honour to know you, Thom as Fred.
My personal favourites RC Cola, Past the Post, Ways, Future Sound, Rose in The Sky all just brilliant tunes!

Fantastic work with great special guests I hear you Mr. Eric Weiden on trumpet and kudos to your engineering of this production.
Awesome music with great vocals throughout! Check out Thom as Fred give it a listen give up that .0007 cents.
And if I was a betting man I would bet that Thom is on drums as well.
My last statement Thom I had no idea you could play dobro that well Damn homey!!!
