The words were originally written for J.P.'s Dream (John Prine's Dream) but I could not make them fit that song - just too many chord changes! But I liked the lyrics - quite a lot different than most of my stuff. A few months later I was playing around in DADGAD tuning on my guitar and I came up with what is now the musical part of the song. I'm glad I waited with the lyrics and repurposed them for this guitar part. I was reading Scott Cook's latest book and CD and he used the concept of a string band for his last record. We bought our youngest a mandolin last spring so, with banjo and dobro I had the makings of my own string band (Covid safety friendly and with discount pricing...)

Though it’s only the month of May
I look through the window

Came back from Ontario
Thinking there might be snow here
And you took my hand
For a while

When it rains,
It pours
Out of doors
In barrels
And children’s boots

When it shines

Like a golden yellow boat

Now we’re back in the snow
Though it’s not Halloween yet, no

It’s time to go sledding

Leaving for Mexico
