about

Framed as a card game gone horribly wrong (I'm a Gambler fan, what can I say?), Revealed takes a chilled out quasi jazz vibe with trumpet obligatos and a marimba doubling the out-of-character "tick-tack" bass line. The song ends with a lovely little playing section for Eric Weiden's gently duelling trumpets

lyrics

The deal is dealt
The hand is won
Aren’t you the lucky one?
When the cards reveal
Their tricks to you
How can you ever feel blue?
Yet you do
Yeah you do

When the frown comes down
Across their brows
A smile curls around your lips

You know its not over
It’s only beginning to be revealed

When the deal went south
You lost your head
And ended up in another’s bed
You didn’t lose your cool
But you turned so red
And were easily lead
So you see
Can’t you see?

When the whip comes down
Across your back
You grimace in pain, tear in lash

You know its not over
It’s only beginning to be revealed

The deal is done
The hands were dealt
You can claim all your wealth
They didn’t believe you won
And they called your bluff
Then they got rough
Now you see
Oh you see

When the blood runs down
Along the floor
Look up to the sky as you die

You know it’s over
And it was only beginning to be revealed
